BAPTISMS, CHRISTENINGS
& THANKSGIVINGS
You can be baptised at any age. The baptism of children is traditionally called a “christening”. During the christening your child will be baptized. It’s the first step of an amazing journey with God, parents, godparents, friends, family and the church.
You don’t have to have been christened (baptized) yourself and you don’t have to be a regular churchgoer. If you are considering being baptized or would like to be explore what a baptism service could mean for your child, please get in touch. We would love to meet with you to chat about possibilities.

Thanksgiving for a Child
A special church service, different from a christening, can be used as a way to say thank you to God for your child. It is called a Thanksgiving for the Gift of a Child and you can view the words of this service here
It’s possible to have this service instead of a christening if you decide that now isn’t the right time to have your child baptized. Or, you could even have the Thanksgiving service as well as a christening.
You might also choose this service when your baby is just born, or if you have adopted a child into your family and you want to celebrate this with special words said by a minister in church.
Whatever the reason, we will be delighted to talk to you about this service.
